• I'm not sure if you need it. I think the 9th gen iPad already has a 3.5mm headphone jack, in which case this adapter is unnecessary. However, if your iPad does not have the headphone jack, you can plug this adapter into the Lightning port in order to use headphones with the standard 3.5mm audio connector.
