It's not a charger - it makes it so the older headphones can be used with the new iphone and ipad that don't have a headphone jack.

No, with this dongle you can connect a 3.5mm jack for headphones or an AUX input type connection but the phone cannot be charged through the connector at the same time. There are other adapters on the market for more $$$ that have this feature.

No. This is simply an adaptor to be able to connect headphones threw the charger port. There is an adaptor made by belkin now that lets you charge and listen at the same time now though.
