There is an adapter you can buy that allows you to stream content from iphone or ipad to a TV with HDMI. Nice thing with these is it allows you to plugin in your charger as well to keep your device from running down. There is a separate lightning to HDMI adapter that you are looking for. You should be able to find it on the apple website if you need to see what it looks like.

You need a Lightning to HDMI adapter if your iPad is one of the newer ones.

This is not the cable for that. You would need a lightning to hdmi adapter which is also sold through Best Buy and Apple.

I think you need the HDMI adaptor cable for the back of your tv, this plug is used if you have a Aux in your car and want to play it over you car stereo with the appropriate jack for your car, this can also be used for connecting head phones to your phone if you don't like the earbuds

Best Buy sells hdmi to tv adaptors for iPhones and iPads - they work great.
