It allow u to plug the round tip of normal ear phones into one end and the other end plugs into your iPhone. It’s just an adapter for our older or regular earphones that don’t have the apple plug.

You can listen to your music and view movies/YouTube with wired headphones. This makes up for the headphone jack Apple took away.

It is for your audio. Since Apple removed the auxiliary plug you can use it to connect your auxiliary cables to the newer iPhones.

It's an adapter for a 3.5mm to Lightning connection since later iPhones no longer have an audio jack..
