If you’ve used the Smart Keyboard Folio, this is actually more secure that that. It has a solid magnetic connection that keeps the iPad securely connected. You are correct that this does not cover the edges of the iPad.

the edge protection is not the best if it falls on the edge you might be in trouble its really not a case made for protection from drops
