• You can do that with this drive. If you have movie DVD's that are not copyright protected, you can use handbrake to rip the information and store on a backup drive. If you have store bought, copyright protected DVD's, then you can rip them but it's illegal and I can't help with that.

• This drive supports USB 3.0 and will read your older DVD's. If your Apple product supports USB 2.0/3.0 peripherals then it will work with your product.
