Yes. You can insert your DVDs in the drive and copy them to an external hard drive.

If you have movie DVD's that are not copyright protected, you can use handbrake to rip the information and store on a backup drive. If you have store bought, copyright protected DVD's, then you can rip them but it's illegal and I can't help with that.
