“Does anyone know if this will burn movies to a DVD? If so is outside software required in order to make the correct file or can it be done directly from the drive?”

• Download Handbrake to your Mac. .. Google it it’s free.. then pop in dvd movie, burn it to you Mac, then from your Mac to your drive

• Yes it will burn movies to DVD. It does require outside software. I got my software from Apple’s App Store.
