Yes, I have a 4K TV, but I set it up on my 1080 tv in a different room just fine. It must auto adjust because I didn’t have to change any settings.

Yes, this will work fine on a 1080p TV. It's fully backward compatible.

You do not need a 4K tv to use this, it just won’t be 4K quality until you get your new tv.

It’ll work fine with older TVs, and personally I’d get the AppleTV 4K boxes because they’re years newer and higher end and will be sipupported longer than the 1080p Apple TV.

You do not need a 4k for the 1080 TV to work. However if you are planning to buy a 4K TV down the road buy the buy the 4 K it will work with either.
