Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I recently turned in a MacBook with Apple care on it and purchased the new MacBook Pro. Best Buy transferred the Apple Care with no problem at all. So the Apple Care is apparently not tied to a specific serial number. Your circumstance is different from mine, but that is what Best Buy did when I traded in a computer for another. I will say that I have been very happy with how Best Buy has handled any repairs, replacements for items I have purchased. They have been very consumer friendly in my observations.
