• No, you do not need to buy the service to connect to your home WiFi, just use the wifi option and not data option on your phone

• A SIM card will not get you onto Home WiFi connections. You don't need a SIM to use WiFi. Smart devices (phones, tablets, TVs, Blu Ray players, etc) can connect to your home WiFi without any other devices or monthly charges.
