The headshell on your turntable is not straight, it is angled. You must us the provided proprietary angled Onkyo headshell with whatever cartridge you choose. Note that the AT-VM95SP Cartridge is for playing 78 rpm SP (standard play) shellac type records, but your turntable does not have a 78-rpm speed. If you intended to select a cartridge that can play 33-1/3 & 45 rpm vinyl records, we recommend the AT-VM95E Cartridge instead.
