I learned that you need 'powered' speakers if you don't have an auxiliary or amplifier. Check out Edifier speakers. They plug right into the turntable. They work great.

If the Sony speakers are powered type speakers (at least one of the speakers will have to be plugged into an AC power outlet to work and will probably have an On/Off Switch and Volume Control on it) they will work with the turntable. Just make certain that the phono preamplifier inside the turntable is turned ON. That is, the preamp selector switch located on the rear of the turntable must be set to the LINE position.
