With these Beats earbuds you will get texts announcements, incoming calls as well as emails as long as you allow notifications. Enable Siri to make calls, send and respond to text messages.

If a short text comes in, it will automatically read it to you which could be annoying if you would rather listen to what you already were listening to. Long text usually prompt me with "X has left you a long text, would you like me to read it? Respond Yes within a few seconds and it will read the full text to you. So overall good if you didn't want to miss an important text but annoying if it is a spam text.
