Hi, Lynda. The Belkin WIA005 is designed to work with most phone cases not thicker than 3mm, and should only composed of lightweight plastics.

It does there is a circular magnetic sticker you can put on the outside of your phone case if it isnt working right to resolve any issues

As long as the Otter Box Defender has Magnetic Wireless Charger, I would assume so. I suggest just to be sure prior to purchasing is asking one of the Best Buy Associates just to be sure. Good luck!
