Are the waffle plates removable? null

No, the plates are permanently attached. They are not hard to clean but the waffle maker cannot be submerged.

No. I tried. You can remove the tiny screws that hold the plates in place and get a good look at the inside wiring and see that the plates are clearly not designed to be taken apart. Doing that would probably void the warranty, though.

They are not. Just the bottom drip play is.
