If you think back to third or fourth grade, you learned that all squares are rectangles, but not all rectangles are squares. This is s similar situation. All air fryers are actually convection ovens, but not all convection ovens are air fryers. The term "convection" just means that air is circulated by a fan. Other than that, the two chief differences are that an air fryer is a smaller, more compact convection oven that uses a more powerful fan for faster and crispier results, while a convection oven is larger, with a less powerful fan that is better for multi-rack baking and roasting. So yes, it is a convection oven (larger set), with a fan for circulating air, but it is a specific TYPE of convection oven (smaller, with a more powerful fan), namely an air fryer (subset).
