“To set the timer for seven minutes, for example, which dot should the indicator line on the timer knob be pointing? What is the increment between dots? It’s not one minute nor two minutes but somewhere in between. Could someone please explain!”

Just estimate, easy to do. Forget the dots are even there. If you set it 3/4 of the way to ten that would be 7.5 minutes. So set it just shy of that point, you'll be adjusting cooking times on the fly anyway as you take out the basket to observe and shake things around. Your food won't be ruined by 30 seconds difference. Yes, was a bad choice of increments for the US market though.
