I highly doubt this cable can handle 12amps at 5 volts with the gauge of wire inside. Devices (even some smart phones with fast charging) accept/need higher charge voltages to power/charge it. I've seen some wall warts, esp newer ones having multiple volt outputs. From 5 volts up to around 20 volts +/- I've seen to accommodate more devices. So if said device uses 20v (and the charger supports it) to charge or to use then amperage flowing through cable would be 3 amps. My Samsung ph on fast charge uses 9.6v at 3.2amps at max rate. It does taper down a lot as it nears full charge. So just saying, not all devices still use just 5 volts anymore.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It chargers very fast i love it
