• No, it melts from the reservoir into the water tank and just continues to make ice, but does not keep it frozen so to speak.

• We don't think so. The ice will not stay frozen for long periods in the reservoir. The storage basket is for convenient collection and serving, not for long-term freezing. The machine is not a freezer. For Immediate Use: Ice is best used shortly after it is made, directly from the machine.
