You just use attachments on the hose

Place a mat and put the vaccuum on top and then you can use the hose to suck up the dirt all over!!

the same as any other vacuum- use an extension cord. Shop-vac would work better, would have more suction than the hose attachments on this does, but it would work alright.

If you are looking to use this unit to clean a car interior you will want to use the upholstery hose on the vacuum. The dusting brush and crevice tool work great for car interiors!
