Our installer told us that SANITIZE must be selected as well as the appropriate washing cycle in order to dry the dishes. I ran it once without sanitize and the dishes were damp but not soaking. The reason for this might be that if you are washing things that would be damaged by heat, you can still wash them without the dry cycle (and heat).

After 2 loads of dishes I have found that most dishes are dry several hours after the dishwasher finishes and just keep a dish cloth handy for any that happen to have a trace of water. We run our dishwasher when we go to bed so the dishes have all night to dry.
