Hi Mitch. Thank you for your question. Per the installation guide for this model, HMB85012UC, it requires a cabinet base that is flat and capable of supporting a weight of at least 142 lbs. We do have an Over-the-Range Microwave that is 2.1 cu. Ft., 1100 Watts and does not have to be mounted in a cabinet. It also provides 385 CFM. The model number for this is HMV5053U.
