It is amazingly quiet. There is a red light that shines on the kitchen floor when it is running because you can not hear it. All I hear is an occasional running of water as it fills, washes and empties.

Yes, it is so quiet that you will not know it is on. My sister has this dishwasher and a concrete floor in her kitchen, and I still cannot tell it is on when I am at her house.
