“We have a whole house water softener. Will this work ok with this dishwasher because we use less detergent etc? I also wondered with the rinse aid, if it had a way of recognizing that it wouldn’t need as much due to our softener.”

I have a whole house softener as well, but the water in my area is so hard that I get mineral deposits on everything. I recommend using pods and a rinsing agent.
