I prefer to use the tabs. The tech shared with us to just sit our tab inside the handle on the upper rack (in the front). He said some tabs have a more stubborn film coating that doesn't dissolve in the cycle. I use to have the problem with my old dishwasher that the door would not open or open partially & the tab would not dissolve & I would have to run another cycle. So far, I've had great luck with the tab dissolving every time. And the tab is less messy to use than the liquid should you overfill accidentally or spill. I have never cared for the powder, the tabs are very convenient & without mess to use.
