16x2 will do it fine. If you have a super powerful amplifier, maybe go with 14x2.

Standard 18 gauge speaker wire works for most applications. 16 gauge wire would be suitable if your speakers will be more than 30 feet from the amplifier, and 14 gauge wire should be used for a longer run, up to 70 feet.
