while they are marketed as covering a throw distance of 50-75 ft (per speaker) - they ARE wide-angle speaker. many users report, (if you have a quality receiver powering them) they've had success in areas ranging from 400ft² - 3,500ft², or a half an acre backyard. note: bose recommends the speakers are mounted at least 7 ft (2 m) apart from one another). to sum things up, like most sound system setups, it's all subjective. do you have obstacles in the way of your sound area? how loud do you want to be able to hear from the max distance away? what receiver will you be using? will you be adding an amp and/or sub to these speakers components? the best answer is, it's all up to personal preference, but I maintain that 2 speakers are more than enough for an area of 400ft² ~ or similar.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. My patio is 30’ wide, 15’ deep. The speaker is designed to disperse sound at outward and inward angles. They cover the patio fine, mounted about 20’ apart. Even at lower volumes.
