I replaced my Acoustimass 700 Series Surround System from 1990 with a Bose Smart Soundbar, Bass Module and the Surround Speakers, and boy does it change the game. The biggest thing that makes it worth the money, you don't need an AV Receiver to run the speakers through anymore. Everything now is ran through Bluetooth and HDMI eARC connections.

If you truly want a Receiver to run the speakers through, you'll need to make sure that it has output to the eARC output for the Soundbar to detect it. But the Receiver is designed more for Passive systems, Bi-Amp systems, or speakers with the Positive and Negative terminals. Having this system myself, I don't need the receiver anymore, the system does fine on its own.
