A:AnswerThe one thing to remember is that the Acoustimass System from Bose is a passive surround system. Comparing that to anything like this being powered equipment, you will instantly notice a drastic improvement in sound.
I replaced my Acoustimass 700 Series Surround System from 1990 with a Bose Smart Soundbar, Bass Module and the Surround Speakers, and boy does it change the game. The biggest thing that makes it worth the money, you don't need an AV Receiver to run the speakers through anymore. Everything now is ran through Bluetooth and HDMI eARC connections.
A:AnswerYou can connect two Bass Modules to your Smart Soundbar 900, though as you already have a Bass Module 500 it would need to be another Bass Module 500. It is not possible to mix and match the Bass Modules.
A:AnswerWith these systems you don't really need an AV Receiver at all. Bose designed them to work with your TV over an HDMI eARC connection. You can add a Soundbar, two Bass Modules, and the Surround cubes, then add them together through the Bose Music App.
If you truly want a Receiver to run the speakers through, you'll need to make sure that it has output to the eARC output for the Soundbar to detect it. But the Receiver is designed more for Passive systems, Bi-Amp systems, or speakers with the Positive and Negative terminals. Having this system myself, I don't need the receiver anymore, the system does fine on its own.
