The app has to at least be on in the background. Mine is on my phone and I charge my phone at night while sleeping with the buds. It hasn't been an issue at all.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.what I can tell you is that one night my cell phone battery died in the middle of the night and the earbuds were still doing there thing and making sounds. My guess is that you need the app to connect to them to tell them what sound you want / set an alarm and then you no longer need the phone. I would think that an alarm would be triggered by the cell phone clock so you'd probably need your phone on all night. I've only used them for the sounds.

Please try again later.Yes you have to have your Bluetooth on..on your phone or iPad in order for the sleepbuds to connect with the app, and to have the sounds come though the earbuds. So as long as you have those sleepbuds in your ears with the app on, your phone or iPad has to be on.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The app will run in the background on your phone iPad etc . I used my phone you can lock your phone . It was on the charger so I can’t say how much battery life the Bose sleeppods take away . But defenitly a great product !
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hello Ronna, thank you for your question. The app must be open for the Sleepbuds to connect and function correctly. Have a great day! Best Regards, Greg - Bose Support
