Hello, Susan. Thank you for your question. The Noise-masking sleepbuds are currently engineered to operate with a consistent connection to a device running the Bose Sleep app. We are working on a "phone-free" mode, as we certainly have spoken with customers enjoy sleeping with their phones either turned off or outside of the bedroom. For the latest information regarding the Sleepbuds, we would recommend regularly visiting our Community page here: https://bose.life/2PDdEbk. We truly appreciate your idea, and we will pass it along to our product team. Have a great day! Jesse - Bose Support
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No. The earbuds only connect through Bluetooth. I tried to open the app and work and play some of the sounds for my co-worker but couldn't since it couldn't find the earbuds to connect.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. These do not Bluetooth with any device except the bose app you have to download. No, streaming music through them or anything, for noise reduction, alarm, and sleep noises only
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It seems that you can. If you close the app while they are still connected to bluetooth they stop. Start it up and turn off bluetooth and they still work..
