The difference is the conversion to Bluetooth and back. Your phone interprets the signal, sends it to a device and the device interpreters it back. Bluetooth senders and receivers aren’t equal. It’s the same with automotive Bluetooth receivers. Really nice having the wireless capabilities, but a wired interface is still king!

There is no such thing as 100% efficiency, and every step in any process adds an incremental loss (that is, a reduction) in the overall level of effeciency. As it pertains to your inquiry, efficiency correlates directly to sound quality. Blue tooth adds a step to the process - actually three steps - so the loss is unavoidable.
