Yes bg it will as I have done that numerous times. It is extremely effective. There is a setting that you can adjust how much noise cancellation you want. I'm on the second or third setting.

Noise cacellation is provided by the headphones. It cacelled the surrounding chatter and about 85% of the cabin noise (jet engine)

Thanks for question. Using the QC35 with the audio cable will provide the same high level of noise cancelling but ANC level cannot be adjusted when used this way.
