“Why are they so expensive and how long do they last off of one charge”

They are expensive because "Bose" is on the side of them. However, they are worth it if you wait for a sale. I ordered mine and got them for $229. If you need to save more wait for the next generation to come out and the price will go down. With all that being said they are a fantastic, great sound and block out all surrounding noise. I work out in what would be a noisy gym but these block it all out so I just hear the music. As for how long do they last, depends on how loud you listen, but they recharge quickly...100% every time I pull them out of the case.
