You don't need a Wifi connection -- just bluetooth. If your laptop has bluetooth, that's all you need.

You don't need Wi-Fi. You can use a cable with a 3.5mm mini-plug on each end, plug one end into your laptop's headphone jack, and the other end into the Aux input on the Soundlink. Turn on the Soundlink power button and press the Aux input button to use it as a speaker for your laptop.

The speaker uses Bluetooth, not WiFi. Your laptop would need Bluetooth. WiFi isn't needed for this unit. I don't see why this wouldn't work, assuming your laptop is Bluetooth capable.

The speaker has a 3.5mm audio port on the back, so you could connect the speaker headphone port to the speaker with a 3.5mm audio cable. It should work just fine.
