I don't think I would take it to the beach unless you plan to keep it up on a table. The structure has multiple places where sand could get through.This may impact the unit or life expectancy. There are water proof bluetooth that may be more appropriate/safe.

The Bose SoundLink Color is not specifically designed to be waterproof or used in wet conditions. If water enters into the speaker, there may be damage to the internal components.
