You should be able to just turn it off with the power button and not have to re-plugged into the wall

Please try again later.Glad you asked, if you're experiencing an issue when starting in the battery mode you might perform a reset by connecting the speaker to the power supply, turning it on and pressing and holding the AUX and Volume - buttons for 10-20 seconds, until a tone is heard. This is also a good time to visit updates.Bose.com/SoundLinkColor to be certain you have the most recent software update.
