“I work from home and currently use Beats in-ear headphones paired to an iPhone to answer calls forwarded to me. I am looking for an over-the-ear solution. Any opinions as to how these would hold up being used to answer phones and listening to music?”

I will not recommend them for audio calls. The microphone will pickup all the nearby sounds. The apple earbuds or even the microphone from the MacBook will provide better call quality than these.
