• You need the right one for everything, you might try to replacement as otherwise it is trash.

• You need the right bud to make it work. You do not need a left one at all.

• I believe you need to have the right ear bud in order for things to work. The right side works on its own and the left only works when the right is being used.

• if you dont want to buy the right earbud to complete the set, you can definitely sell the charging case on Ebay or Craigslist. Lots of people including myself would be interested in second charging case.
