Yes, use the control panel to set what you want to cook, it will recommend what shelf to use.

You can only start the cooking mode from the Joule oven unless using the Joule recipes. Once you start cooking, it will go through a preheat phase, depending on your cooking mode. Once preheat is finished, the oven will beep and your phone will notify you preheat is finished and cooking phase started. I think that is probably a safety feature. You can monitor time allowed and stop from your phone but you cannot adjust the temperature or time from your phone, again, a safety feature, I think. I hope this helps.

Right now, it is only the preloaded recipes that can be programmed through the app.
