We haven’t noticed that it gets hot underneath. Ours sits directly on the counter top and no problems. I’d be more attentive to the cabinets overhead as the heat rises. Not sure what to say about your weight “question”. I’ve never weighed it. Are you saying you weighed it and got a different measurement than the data on the website?
