Modern refrigerators have more features and use newer technology. The new high efficiency compressor may run faster and longer than your old refrigerator and when surrounding sounds are low, you may hear a pulsating sound while it is operating. No, it is pretty quiet (only exception is when it is first set up and it is making ice).
