“Why is the light around the brew/select knob pulsing? We just got this and the light around the brew-select knob is slowly pulsating. What does this mean? Is this normal?”

Ours will only pulse during the brew cycle. Have you connected your coffee pot to your wifi? It may be pulsing as an indicator the smarthome connection is missing? Just a thought.

When you follow the instructions to set up the clock settings, make your selections for Strength and Temperature, and set up an Auto Brew, the outer ring of the Brew/Select knob will illuminate to confirm each selection when pushed.
