If your existing copper water line has a flared fitting at the end, you will need an adapter (available at plumbing supply stores) to connect the water line to the refrigerator OR you can cut off the flared fitting with a tube cutter and then use a compression

This refrigerator features Adaptive Defrost (or Frost Guard) means that the refrigerator will only defrost as needed. It accounts for door openings and usage to determine when it is necessary to defrost and how long the defrost cycle needs to run. If the refrigerator is not being frequently used (for example, your family is on vacation), it will not defrost as often. The Adaptive Defrost feature also utilizes a "Pre-Chill" function to lower the freezer temperature prior to the defrost cycle. This lowering of the freezer temperature allows the freezer to return to its set temperature point more quickly once the defrost cycle is complete. All of this amounts to minimal thawing of foods and refreezing during the defrost cycle. The result is that it reduces freezer burn. If you purchased a genuine filter from GEA, have followed the install steps properly, and your unit is still leaking water, you may want to try using your bypass plug in place of the filter to see if this leak still occurs. If it does, then we'd recommend reaching out to our service team for further help. If it does not leak when you have the bypass plug inserted, you may want to try installing the filter again or purchasing a new filter to see if this helps. We do hope this is helpful for you.
