“When I use this on my eosr, with my ef 70 - 200 lens, it makes a constant grinding noise”

That grinding is the infinity focus motor on your lens moving while attached to the adapter. It's a common complaint with the adapter. I think it has to do with the fact that some RF glass doesn't have infinity focus and the camera wasn't designed for it? It's annoying but so far in my use, it hasn't been a major issue.
