what does ELPH mean on the Canon cameras null

I THINk it means "electronic photography"

I don’t know. It is the name given to a series of cameras. It was first released in 1996. At the time it was the smallest camera on the market. My guess is that it was little elves are little and ELPH was an appropriate name for a little camera. It’s just a guess. I couldn’t find anything else when I searched. But I remember when it first came out it was the smallest camera out there. Hope that helps.
