No do not ise this for class! This is a bridge camera not designed for your purpose. Get a true DSLR and learn in class to use it. Get yourself the Canon EOS Rebel T6 package. I saw it in the store when I bought this Sx60. The package had bag and two lenses. Perfect camera for your needs and price point $450. Too many people buy a camera out of their budget and take crappy photos. Don’t be fooled by the pixel game either, if the image sensors Are the same size , a camera at 16 meg has larger pixels than say a 20 meg. In short the 16 meg is a much richer photo. Not met many people doing prints larger than 18x24 using a sub $1000 camera!
