Yes it can, however I would strongly suggest a tri-pod for long zoom shots. Beyond 35x zoom it becomes nearly impossible to hold the camera still enough to focus. When I'm using this camera for long range zoom I always have a Monopod which helps a great deal and is much easier to carry arround than a tri-pod.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, just make sure the camera is in 16.9 ratio versus the 4.3 ratio. and use a bi-pod if possible for the most stable pictures because once you start zooming out far the picture tends to get shaky when holding by hand....65 x zoom is no joke!

Was pleased that I could take distant shots at full zoom without need for a tripod. Resolution was excellent even though the photo sensor is smaller than those found in a DSLR camera.
