Is the autofocus fast? null

It is faster than the Panasonic FZ70 and a Nikon I had. I was able to focus on humming birds before they flew off

In sport mode and at low to moderate zoom yes, however at long range zoom not so much. Actually takes a couple of focus measurements at long range before your clear. I was really on the fence about this camera vs the Nikon B700. The Nikon focused much faster all the time, however the features and feel of the canon made it the winner for me.
