• The 12-Pin is only for NVIDIA founders edition only. All other manufacturers such as MSI and GIGABYTE chose to stick with 8-Pin connectors. Pin Requirements: MSI 3070 Gaming C Trio - 2 x 8-Pin GIGABYTE 3060 Ti OC - 8-Pin

• I think this is more intended and used for the founders editions of the latest 30 series GPU from NVIDIA. Since their power port is proprietary, they come with an adapter cable to convert your current PSU cable into one that the GPU needs. Hope this helps.
