This is my own question and I’m hoping Corsair will answer this response. I purchased a second ram stick and it still didn’t work. Bios are updated, ram was pushed in all the way, tried various combinations in different slots and it remained a black screen. Short of both sticks being faulty, I’m not sure what more I can do
